Mentoring Others In Christ Is Maybe More Important Than I Thought.
When Paul was in corinth, he used his skills as a tent maker to work with those who were tent makers there. It was his way to connect with the people and build a rapport with them. How can we connect with others so we can build a rapport with them, gain their trust, and be respected? Once we can build that rapport, then when we share Jesus with our words and life, they’re more apt to listen. Many may not believe, but that’s not our job. Our job as a Christian is to share our faith and leave it in the hands of the Holy Spirit to convict and draw people to himself.
In Paul’s travels, he had the opportunity to mentor Priscilla and Aquila. They ended up traveling with Paul as far as Ephesus. Priscilla and Aquila eventually met a man named Apollos whom they then mentored. Apollo’s became a great presenter of the Gospel of Jesus. Believers discipling Christians who disciple Christians, etc.
Who are we mentoring in the Faith of Jesus? Who are we encouraging in their Faith Walk? I’ve asked this question recently, but obviously we see over and over again, not just how important it was to Jesus and his followers, but how important it should be to us.
