Acts Chapter 17
Were We Made For God or Was God Made For Us?
Paul, Silas, and Timothy travel to different cities preaching the Good News of Jesus. It always resulted in many new believers but also with many jealous Jews who even started riots and spread lies about them.
When Paul is in Athens he sees the people are worshiping idols made by hands, rather than worshiping the God that made all things: the God who was and is and will always be.
The people in Athens loved to worship idols in hopes of fulfilling their fleshly desires. They would form their gods around themselves so they could be in control of their own lives.
Paul made some great comments about THE Lord God:
1. We should strive to serve The God Who made all the heavens and the Earth and everything in them. Rather than form gods that serve their flesh desires.
2. The Lord God is not dependent upon anyone for his existence or for anyone to sustain him.
3. God gives life and breath to us in order to sustain us.
4. God created us so we would inhabit the whole Earth.
5. God has marked out our days on Earth and has established where we will live our days on Earth.
6. God chose to be in charge so we’d seek and find him who is always very near. He always has our best interest in his mind.
6. This God is calling us to repent of our sins and turn to Jesus for salvation. To reject the Lord Jesus is to be rejected by him on judgment day.
Are you striving for God so he can make you all that he wants you to be for him?

Are you striving for things of this world so you can be in charge, while expecting God to fulfill your desires over his?
