Isaiah Chapter 38. Each Day That We Are Alive Is A Blessing From God.
King Hezekiah became very sick and the prophet Isaiah came and said, “Get your house in order for you’re going to die.” When King Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.”
The Lord heard his prayer and had the prophet say to him, “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add 15 years to your life.”
I’d like to share some observations:
1. We are all destined to die. It may be at a young age or it might be a ripe old age. We don’t know.
2. Because we don’t know, we should always keep our “house in order.” In other words, we should stay faithful to the Lord in all areas of our lives. I know this is impossible, but may that always be the desire of our hearts, so that when we fail, we are quick to repent and turn to the Lord for forgiveness.
3. May our lives always be a testimony for Jesus, whether we are alive and well and serving him, or if we are on our deathbed dying of an illness.
4. God may heal us of our sickness, and he may not. Either way, stay faithful to him to the end.
Lord, thank you for my life! Each day is a gift from you. May I be filled with joy, and praise you till my dying day. With each breath I breathe, help me point people to Jesus. Amen!
