2nd Samuel Chapter 9
God Lovingly Sees You In Your Distress.
King David loved and missed Jonathan who was killed in a battle along with his dad King Saul. David loved Jonathan and wanted to show kindness to any family members left. When King David found out Jonathan had a son, Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet, he called him to his palace. He told Mephibosheth he would stay with David and eat the same food from his table like a son would.
Mephibosheth could not believe David would do this for him and even asked why he would do such a thing for he is like a “dead dog” since he was crippled. Mephibosheth obviously thought lowly of himself and I am sure he was picked on because he was crippled. He probably had little encouragement especially after losing his dad and Grandpa in a war. You have to wonder if he didn’t have days when he called out to the Lord for mercy. Regardless, God lovingly pursued Mephibosheth through King David to show him that he was valuable, significant, and important. God’s love is real and not based upon whether or not we have “noticeable imperfections”. God’s love strives for us just as it did for Mephibosheth. Have you felt knocked down or discouraged lately. Have you called out to the Lord for mercy? Please know that God loves you and you are significant, valuable, and important. Plus God has a purpose for your life to impact the lives of others. So rise above your circumstances and let God and His Holy Spirit shine in and through your life.
