2nd Samuel Chapter 18
It’s Difficult If Our Kids Aren’t Serving The Lord.
Absalom, King David’s son, has been pursuing his dad in order to kill him. So the day comes when David’s army of a few thousand go out into battle against Absalom and his army. David tells his men not to kill his son Absalom. David’s men defeat Absalom’s army and 11 of his men killed Absalom. When David heard the news he wept bitterly crying to the Lord saying that he preferred that he died versus his son.
This battle is a Praise and a Curse at the same time.
1. PRAISE: Because Absalom was pursuing King David and his people in order to kill David thus causing the people to live in fear. But with Absalom’s death, the people can live in freedom and no longer in fear.
2. CURSE: Because King David was always hoping his son would live and be United back with him. He was always hoping that everything would turn out okay, including the relationship.
No parent wants to see their children die. They sometimes over protect them and make excuses for their bad choices.
I pray I will do everything possible to maintain a strong relationship with my family. I pray I will encourage them with life difficulties and encourage them with their faith walk. God help me be a role model and if for some reason one of my family members walk away from you, then give me your strength and your compassion so I deal with the relationship properly.
