2nd Samuel Chapter 17
Persevere Because There Is A Light At The End Of The Tunnel And It’s Jesus!
King David and his family and followers are still fleeing from Absalom, David’s son, who is trying to kill David. Absalom receives counsel to pursue David in a certain strategic manner in order to be successful in killing him.
For whatever reason, Absalom asks counsel from Hushai, who is actually a friend of David pretending he hates David and loves Absalom. God uses Hushai to deceive Absalom with an idea for battle that would actually end up saving King David and destroying Absalom and his followers.
Here’s King David and his people fleeing for their lives and becoming very weary from lack of food. When they are in the midst of devastating circumstances, it’s difficult for them to see “the light at the end of the tunnel.”
But even amongst the horrific circumstances, God is at work and preparing to deliver King David even though his circumstances look impossible and make him even question whether God is with him.
Doesn’t that sound like us when we’re going through horrible circumstances in life. But may we all be encouraged and persevere under even the most difficult times. God is at work behind the scenes at bringing a victory. Don’t get caught up in your negative circumstances but keep focus on Christ and his promise of never leaving us or forsaking us. James 1:12 is a reminder of that coming promise, so don’t give up because there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that light is Christ!
