2nd Samuel Chapter 16
Don’t Listen To The Lies Of The Devil.
As we go through hardships, sometimes we assume the worst. As King David is fleeing from Absalom his son, he begins to wonder if God is for him or against him? Or if God is for Absalom or against him? While King David is fleeing, a relative of the dead King Saul begins to curse King David vehemently while throwing stones at him and his people. David never shut the man up because he began to feel that maybe God is against him and therefore deserved the curses.
This is sad because often times we hear something enough we begin to believe it. I’ve seen this happen and I’ve experienced it.
I’ve seen a boy told by his classmate he was gay because he had a feminine voice. Having heard this over and over and over and over again, the boy began to believe that maybe he is gay. And today he’s in a homosexual relationship.
I was bullied in school and felt I was insignificant and it affected how I felt about myself and even concluded that most everyone else were thinking the same thing about me even though they weren’t.
I’ve seen people who are told over and over again they were ugly. So of course they began to believe that.
Satan loves to use other people to tear each of us down. We can’t listen to the lies of the devil no matter how often we hear them or who they come from.
Psalms 139:14-18 is a reminder of how awesome we really are. God tells us that we are wonderfully made by him and we are precious in His sight. In fact he has precious and amazing thoughts of us, and if we were to count them, they’d outnumber the grains of sand. God is always saying positive and wonderful things about each of us because we are important and valuable and significant. Yet we listen to that one lie from the devil and let that destroy us. Don’t listen to the lies of the devil no matter who says it!
