2nd Samuel Chapter 12
God’s Forgiveness Is Greater Than Any Sin.
There’s a saying found in Numbers 32:23 that says, “Your sin will find you out.”
It means that hidden sin will eventually catch up with us and will result in terrible consequences. We see that with David’s life. He committed adultery with his soldier’s wife, Bathsheba, then had her husband killed by the enemy’s sword. Then David married Bathsheba.
God confronted David through the prophet Nathan, and David was greatly humbled and repented of his sin. God forgave him but with that came the promise of upcoming terrible consequences that would affect David’s family and his wives. God also said that the child he had with Bathsheba, would die, which he did.
But in less than a year, Bathsheba had another son from David and named him Solomon. And it says that God loved Solomon.
What sin are you playing with? Are you hiding it or dealing with it? Hidden Sin will eventually result in consequences that will hurt both you and others. The good news is, God declares forgiveness for the humble and repentive heart like David’s. In fact, the very woman David had committed adultery with, later had another son named Solomon.
For those of us who say, “I’ve sinned! God could never use me,” we’ve got it all wrong. God cleans our slate of sin and is so ready to use us just as he did David and Bathsheba when he gave them a child which would become a great man of God. You’re never too dirty to be used by God when you approach him with a repentive and humble heart. So get right with God and get ready for the adventure he has for you to bring glory to his name.
