2nd Samuel chapter 11
We Would Be Very Smart To Flee From Temptations.
In short, King David stays in Jerusalem while his men are fighting a battle for a long period of time. While David is resting in his Palace, he sees Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah who is in battle, and lusts for her. Instead of fleeing the lust, he acted upon it and took her into his Palace and had sex with her. Later she told King David she was pregnant. So David pulled Uriah from Battle in hopes of getting him to lie with his wife so there would be no suspicion of David being the father of her child. But twice he refused to lie with his wife because he felt he should be in battle with his men. So David had the commander of the army put Uriah on the front line of a dangerous battle so he would die. As a result, Uriah and other men had died. After his death, and after Bathsheba mourned her husband’s death, David took her as his wife and she had a son. God said that what David did was evil in his sight.
James 1:13-15 says we will always be TEMPTED. But it’s the one who ACTS upon the temptation who actually sins. We always have the opportunity to RUN AWAY from temptation. But if we let the temptation ENTICE US, then we end up LUSTING for it. We can still choose to run away from the temptation but if we don’t then we end up ACTING upon the lust within our hearts. This is called sin. With the sin comes CONSEQUENCES. It will hurt you and sadly it will hurt innocent people, and innocent relationships.

Father, please forgive me of my past sins when I willfully act upon my lust for that which I was tempted with. Thank you for your forgiveness! Lord, empower me now by your Holy Spirit so I can overcome such temptations. Provide the Christian friend or friends who can help with this process and accountability. Thank you in Jesus name, Amen.
