2nd Kings Chapter 21
Persecution is Inevitable!
When King Hezekiah was alive he did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. But those who served as kings after him did so much evil before the Lord and influenced the people of Judah to do evil. So God sent prophet after prophet saying they must repent or he would turn them over to their enemies. All too often, the leadership and the people ignored the prophets. Those in power had a chance to be spiritual leaders but weren’t. And the followers had a chance to be spiritual examples for the others, but they were hard to find. The people were indulged with the pleasures of the world.
Today’s no different. We have people in power promoting a society of evil and doing it in ways to get our children acclimated to this evil as if it is good. And people are all too quick to follow the evil and the pleasures of this world. Those who oppose the evil, especially the true Christians, will eventually be punished and persecuted. Trust me, persecution toward the Christians will only increase. This is what will separate the true followers from those who verbally profess to be Christians, but will quickly abandon the faith so as to prevent from being persecuted. This is forthcoming. It’s already happening in Canada and Ukraine, and other countries around the world.
God help me to stay faithful to you and your word no matter what persecution I may face. May that be all of our hearts.
