2nd Kings Chapter 17
On A Scale Of 0 to 10…?
So Israel did great evil in the eyes of the Lord so God allowed them to be captured by the King of Assyria. The king removed the people from Israel and took them captive. Then the king had pagans from other nations move into Israel. In God’s anger, he caused lions to attack many of the pagans and kill them. So the pagans felt the “god” of Israel was angry so they decided to serve the Lord God but didn’t see him as the true God but as one god amongst many gods. And they did evil in the eyes of the Lord as well.
It doesn’t seem much different than our world today. If you ask someone if they believe in Jesus you get different kinds of responses:
1. Some say an outright NO and want nothing to do with the Lord God.
2. Some say YES, but have very very little commitment to the Lord because they are too busy with life or are too distracted with other pleasures of the world.
3. Some say YES, but see nothing wrong in violating God’s laws because they think because God is so loving that he is not too concerned with their life choices.
4. Some say YES and are sold out for Jesus, wanting nothing to do with anything or anyone that pulls them away from the Lord.
Where do you fit on this scale between
NO, I want nothing to do with God and
YES, I believe in the living God and I’m sold out 100%?
Where are you on this scale and if you aren’t sold out 100%, what do you need to do to get there?
