2nd Kings Chapter 15
Life’s Not Fair!
Azariah became king over Judah and reigned 52 years, and he did right in the eyes of the Lord. But God struck him with leprosy till the day of his death. He lived in a separate house while his son carried out household matters and judged the people. It would be easy to say on behalf of this King that LIFE’S NOT FAIR! Yet, God never promised excellent health for the righteous, because the curse of sin will affect both the righteous and unrighteous. The question is, how will you deal with your faith when the curse of sin affects your health or your life circumstances?
My dad died of cancer after 7 years and he always had a positive attitude. He always said he can’t complain because he knows those who are worse off than him.
I also remember a famous football player whose first name was Gayle. He came down with a type of sickness that required a transplant. He put out a statement, to those who were ahead of him for the transplant, to let him go first because he was a famous football player. It didn’t happen and he died from his sickness.
Next time something happens to you that doesn’t seem fair, how will you handle it? Will you turn your heart from God or will you continue to thank him for who he is. Remember, life on Earth is only for a short time. After that comes eternity, either in heaven or hell. Will you faithfully serve the Lord and others, or will you complain on how bad you got it. Be joyful and thankful when life is good and be joyful and thankful when life is not so good knowing that a great reward awaits you in heaven (1st Thessalonians 5:16-18).
