2nd Chronicles Chapter 19
When Rebuked Do You Repent Or Revolt?
Jehu came to King Jehoshaphat and rebuked him for helping the wicked King in battle and displeasing the Lord. The rebuke resulted in repentance:
1. King Jehoshaphat got his life right with God.
2. Then he went to his people with the motive to bring them back to the Lord.
He confronted his assigned judges and priests to quit judging with evil motives, and quit showing partiality, and quit taking bribes.
They were instructed to do two things:
1. When they judge do it for the Lord and not for selfish gain.
2. Always have the fear of the Lord upon them as a way of keeping them focused on his Justice and Truth.
May we take the same advice. When confronted, do we Repent or Revolt by pushing the person away who confronted us?
May we repent and return to the Lord in fullness and then encourage others to do the same. May we lead by example and take heed to the advice:
1. Whatever we do do it for the Lord and not for selfish gain.
2. May we have the fear of the Lord as a way of keeping us focused on his truth and justice.
