Second Chronicles Chapter 3
This Is Taking Longer Than I Thought!
King David knew his son Solomon was God’s chosen one to build the Lord’s Temple so he did a lot of organizing to help in the preparation process. But it was still 4 years before Solomon started the actual building. It may seem like a long time but there was a lot of work that needed done to get all the supplies and assigning tens of thousands of people their specific jobs and seeing which the leaders would be overseeing each task.
For me, I get a vision from the Lord about starting something and I just assume it’s going to happen right away, like in a few weeks. But I can tell you, it seems to take longer than I thought. There seems to be a lot of hoops to jump through, a lot of prayer, a lot of organizing and a lot of planning and preparation work that needs done ahead of time. More than you expected. It can even be discouraging, but don’t get impatient and don’t give up. Keep persevering because once it starts, God will begin to bring fruit from it.
For example, God put in my heart last summer of 2022, to start Student Impact at the Union City School, start reaching out to the businesses in Union City, also start reaching out to the households in Union City. And start a discipleship small group Ministry. Well, a lot of prep work has been going on so that the small group Ministry and the Student Impact Ministry didn’t start until February 2023.
Reaching businesses and household with the gospel may not end up starting until summer of 2023. There’s always more stuff that needs done that you don’t think about.
So if God has put something on your heart, be patient, do the prep work and organizational things that need done, persevere, expect obstacles to come to slow you down, don’t give up. God is in it and will bring fruit from it once it starts. Be patient. It’ll start when God is ready for it to start.
