2 Timothy Chapter 1
Is Your Faith IGNITED or TIMID?
1. Ephesus, once a region that loved and served the Lord, has now become a place where false teachings are being preached by unholy leaders. Just like the false teachings being proclaimed today by our culture and churches. Timothy, who was sent there by Paul, is in tears because of the sufferings and oppositions he faces.
Are we facing opposition because of our faith? If no, is it because no one sees our faith in our lives or because they are attracted by the love that the Spirit empowers us with?
2. Paul REMINDS Timothy of his faith so that he doesn’t get discouraged and give up. Paul instructs him to KEEP and GUARD the Truth and don’t be ASHAMED of the Truth even if it means persecution, imprisonment, or death. Are we allowing our cultures interpretation of Truth to alter our thoughts or are we KEEPING and GUARDING this Truth without being ASHAMED?
3. Paul also encourages Timothy to not become quiet or timid in his faith when he faces so much opposition, but rather to FAN INTO FLAME (Ignite) the gifts God has given to him. In fact be ignited with power, love, and self-discipline so that the enemy can’t shut him down.
I wonder if our faith needs to be ignited with power, love and self-discipline?
