2 Peter Chapter 2
God Would Never Do That!
God is a LOVING God but he is also a HOLY and JUST God. Sadly everyone wants to focus on just how loving he is as if there’s no punishment for sin. They forget that God is Holy and that he cannot have unholiness in his presence. As a result he punishes those who live ungodly lives but he gives a heavenly reward to those who have accepted Christ and followed him.
God warns the people that there are those who are secretly introducing false teachings. Their whole agenda is to introduce new truths that deny the Lord Jesus and his Salvation. Their depraved and corrupt minds will be their guide and not the Holy Spirit and his Word. And if anyone opposes them they will exploit and make up stories against them. They will blasphemy others in matters they don’t understand and as a result are like unreasoning animals.
God warns them that his judgment and destruction will fall upon them. He did not spare the angels who sinned against him by following Satan. He did not spare the ungodly who opposed him in the days of Noah and the flood. He did not spare Sodom and Gomorrah for their ungodliness and sin. Then please understand, neither will he spare any of the ungodly ones on the day of judgment. But a heavenly reward awaits those who are faithful and persevere.
Heed the warning of our God: turn from sin and be a faithful follower of Christ.
