2 Kings Chapter 5
I’m Greedy!
A great event occurred in the life of Naaman. He was a leper that came to Elisha’s house to be healed. But Elisha sent out his messenger and told him to dunk seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman was furious because he thought Elisha would just come out and wave his hand over him and heal him. But he did go to the Jordan and dunked seven times and was healed.
He went to Elisha to give him money and gifts but Elisha refused them. When Naaman left, Elisha’s servant went to Naaman saying that Elisha does want some money and gifts. The Messenger’s greed drove him to lie so he could get gifts for himself.
Two things I learned from this.
1. Don’t put your faith in a human being. We think of important people that we want to be connected with and treat them as if they are a god. But we should never put our Faith and Hope in a human. We can be thankful for the positive influences of godly people but all the glory always goes to God.
2. Greed destroys so many people. People do things they never would have done when money or a position of power is within their reach. They pervert their beliefs and compromise their lives.
Trust God and Don’t Let Greed Control You.
