2 Kings Chapter 24
I Don’t Get It!
I don’t get it! God warned Jerusalem of their sin and disobedience, and that he would bring disaster upon them if they did not repent of their evil ways. But they didn’t so God sent the King of Babylon to Jerusalem and he destroyed the city. Then he removed all the leaders and people from the city, except the poor people. Then the King of Babylon made Zedekiah King in what was left of Jerusalem. You would think that as the new king in Jerusalem that he would realize that it was because of their sin that God brought disaster upon them. That this realization would be a wake-up call and that King Zedekiah would repent before the Lord and change his practices when given the opportunity to have a powerful spiritual influence over the people. But he didn’t. Instead, the new king continued to do evil before the Lord.
I don’t get it! Why couldn’t they see that their ways were evil and hurting their relationship with the Lord? But then again, I’m reminded how I make some same stupid mistakes and just need to not be stubborn in my way and be broken before God and repent so God can do the work he wants to do in and through me.
God, forgive me of my sins and help me be faithful in all I do and say and think! And help me have an impact on people’s lives for you!
