2 Kings Chapter 2
Receive the Holy Spirit with Power.
Elijah mentored Elisha and Elisha got to see God at work through Elijah. He had a love for Elijah but also had a love for serving the Lord with power from the Holy Spirit. He knew God was going to take Elijah to heaven alive and wanted to be with Elijah at all times. Elijah asked what he wanted and Elisha said he wanted a double portion of the same Holy Spirit that Elijah had. Elijah said if you see me leave this earth it will be given to you. So when God sent two chariots of fire with two horses of fire, taking Elijah from the Earth, Elisha saw it and received the Holy Spirit with power.
How bad do you want this Holy Spirit and power. Acts 1:8 promises us the same Holy Spirit with power. Elisha was willing to follow Elijah his mentor faithfully so he could learn all God had for him. Are you willing to invest your time in God’s Word, in Christian fellowship, in daily prayer, in order to learn all you can about God so you can better serve him?
Elijah was serious about receiving from God and following him so God gave him the Holy Spirit with power and as Elisha traveled, God revealed his amazing power through Elisha during three different situations.
Pray today to receive the Holy Spirit and ask God to empower you so you can do the work he has called you to do. Then be willing to invest your time in following him, and being with him daily. You will begin to see fruit come from the Holy Spirit in and through your life.
