2 Kings Chapter 11
Take the Risks!
When Athaliah saw that her son, the king, was dead, she killed all the Royal offspring so she could reign as the queen. But one of the Royal offsprings, a newborn, Jehoash, was taken by the aunt and hidden till the newborn was 7 years old.
At that time the priest, Jehoiada, gathered the captains of the army so that Jehoash could be anointed, crowned as king, and put on the throne before the people. Then the priest had the evil Queen killed and all the altars of Baal torn down so that only the Lord God would be worshiped.
What the aunt and priest did was risky. Because they both could have faced death if the queen knew what they were doing.
What risks are we willing to make, despite the consequences, to ensure that the things of the Lord are exalted and the things of the world are removed from our hearts and lives? When we take a stand for the Lord we could face rejection, be made fun of, ostracized, or so many other consequences, including death.
Take the risks because the rewards in heaven greatly outweigh the negative consequences on Earth.
