2 Chronicles chapter 30
Be Bold. Keep Celebrating.
King Hezekiah was bold to send his men to all the 12 tribes of Israel to invite them to celebrate the Passover in Jerusalem. This was bold since Israel had forsaken the Lord. In his invite, he challenged the people to not be like their fathers before them who were unfaithful to God and full of pride. But instead asked them to come humbly before the Lord and celebrate the Passover as one body.
Even though many mocked those inviting them, there were still a great turnout from the 12 tribes and the people celebrated Passover before the Lord for seven days. And after the seven days, they decided to celebrate even seven more days. It was like, they couldn’t stop celebrating the Lord. God meant so much to them they couldn’t stop lifting up the name of their God.
And it all started with one man, King Hezekiah, being bold and inviting so many people. He didn’t let the rejection and mocking of some stop him from promoting and inviting others. I wish we all had that same boldness and drive so that we were not afraid to invite our friends to church. Oh that we wouldn’t let the rejection of some keep us from inviting others. Then how cool it would be that after celebrating the fellowship before the Lord, that we kept that excitement throughout the week keeping on spending time with the Lord in the reading of the Bible and in our prayer and worship to him.
CHALLENGE:
Be praying who God would want you to invite to church. Pick a Sunday 4 or 5 weeks from now and say God who could I invite to church. And if the people you invite say no, don’t give up, be bold and continue to ask people who God puts on your heart. Don’t give up and see what God will do.
