2 Chronicles Chapter 29
Don’t Be Negligent!
Hezekiah became king after Ahaz at age 25 and he immediately repaired the house of the Lord and worked on reform with the priests and Levites. He commanded that they restore holiness in the Temple of the Lord. He instructed them not to be negligent about it. The Hebrew word for negligent is “shalah.” It means to be negligent, careless, thoughtless, showing ignorance. It implies they aren’t WILFULLY trying to sin but do so out of IGNORANCE. Thankfully for King Hezekiah, Holiness was restored to the temple and to the people.
CHALLENGE:D
Don’t be “shalah” with your faith commitment. In other words, don’t be negligent with your faith walk.
Be honest with yourself. What steps of Holiness am I negligent about because of being CARELESS or IGNORANT? And what steps of Holiness am I negligent about because I WILLFULLY want to sin and be disobedient about it?
Either way, Lord help me repent from all sin so I can better serve you in Holiness.
As King Hezekiah did, I am making a new and Holy covenant with you today so help me walk faithfully with you in all areas of my life.
