2 Chronicles Chapter 24
I Don’t Get It!
Joash became King when he was seven and served as king for 40 years. And he did what was right before the Lord while Jehoiada influenced him. Jehoiada was a great man of God and loved him and mentored Joash. But when Jehoiada died, Joash listened to the new officials and turned away from the Lord and served false gods. How could he turn so quickly from the Lord. He was faithful when Jehoiada was present. Why did he turn so quickly away from the Lord now? I Don’t Get It. He even killed the son of Jehoiada who confronted him of sin. Usually a change of heart is a slow process. Why such a quick change. I don’t get it.
Perhaps we know someone who has turned away from the Lord which seems to have occurred so quickly. And we don’t get it! Like, why?
As a friend, we must continue to love and pray for them. Pray that they will return to the Lord. Never give up praying and never give up loving them. But know that the choice is theirs to make. It may be a painful outcome that we hope will never happen. God help us and help those we love to come to you completely.
