2 Chronicles Chapter 22
Do As I Say And Not As I Do.
“Do as I say and not as I do.” This has never been a great saying. People who make this comment are revealing either their weakness or their desire to NOT want to change for the good.
But in this chapter, Athaliah, the mother of the new king Ahaziah, actually counseled her son to do evil. And evil he did do. As a result God caused destruction to come upon him. Then Athaliah went out of her way to make sure there was no offspring left to rule as King so that she could rule over Judah. Yet, one of the offspring was hidden from her for 6 years.
All this wickedness started for King Ahaziah with a mother who taught him to do evil.
What do we teach our kids or teach those watching us? What does our life reflect? Does what we DO speak louder than what we SAY? Lord, help my life reflect your Son Jesus. I don’t want to just talk about Jesus, I want to live it. Let both what I say and do be what teaches others about you and your great love. Forgive me when I fail.
