1st Timothy Chapter 1
Don’t Get Sidetracked
Paul sends a letter to Timothy and instructs him to command the believers in Ephesus to quit teaching false doctrines, and quit engaging into myths that take the focus off faith in the Messiah Jesus. The goal is to obtain a love that comes from a pure and holy heart, and to have a sincere faith in Christ Jesus alone.
Instead, people get sidetracked with meaningless doctrines and then want to teach them to the rest of the Christians. The problem is they don’t even know what they are talking about. That is why it is so important to be in the WORD daily, learning and studying the SCRIPTURES so we can recognize false teachings when they come. It’s too easy to get sidetracked from the truth of the BIBLE.
Paul encourages and reminds Timothy that he was called to proclaim Christ Jesus to the Lost. So as Timothy goes to Ephesus to share the proper doctrines of the faith in Jesus, Paul encourages him not to get sidetracked into the false doctrines like so many of the Christians in Ephesus have done.
