1st Samuel Chapter 5
God Takes Second To No One.
After the Philistines captured the Ark of God, they set it next to their god, Dagon. When they woke in the morning, their god Dagon was fallen face down before the Ark of God. They set him upright and the next morning Dagon was again fallen before the Ark of God only this time his head and palms were cut off. The Lord was angry with the Philistines and caused there to be a great confusion over the people and he smote them with tumors and many men died. The leaders of the Philistines said we must send away the Ark of God and return it to its own place before more of our people die.
May we not be so foolish as to think that there are things or people in this world that we can exalt over God. God takes second to no one!! We are either exalting God as number one or we’re not. How long can we do this before the Lord gets our attention to remind us of his greatness and power? Do we dare be absorbed with the pleasures of this world only to face the discipline of God like the Philistines did? God loves us too much to let our acts of disobedience go unpunished. Lord help us surrender and serve you now as the one and only true God versus waiting for your discipline and be reminded that you are the one and only true God.
