1st Samuel Chapter 4
Life is Doom and Gloom!
Israel went into battle against the Philistines who defeated the Israelites while killing over 34,000 of their men. Plus they stole the Ark of the covenant and killed the two sons of Eli, the priest. When Eli heard the news of all that happened he fell backwards and died.
If this was the end of the story, you’d say what is there to live for? Life is nothing but doom and gloom.
In reality, terrible things in life happen. We can’t escape it. The question isn’t, “Will something bad happen?” The question is, “When will it happen?” Yes, it could be the death of a loved one, it could be a lost job, a divorce, broken relationships, sickness / cancer, etc.
Life seems like just Doom and Gloom, but there is so much more to life. Christ promises to never leave us nor forsake us. He’s ever present to help us through each Doom and Gloom so that we can have JOY in misery, HOPE during the Impossible. He wants to take the bad and bring good out of it. May we be faithful to the Lord always, trusting and persevering through all the tough times. May we never give up! Keep the faith.
