1st Samuel chapter 30
Expect the Unexpected.
When David and his men were sent home by the Philistines, they found their city burned and their wives and children and belongings captured and taken away. David and his men wept bitterly. But David strengthened himself in the Lord and called out to God. He asked, should I pursue those who took captive our families? God said, pursue for you shall surely overtake them and rescue everyone.
I’m sure David wondered how in the world they would find these evil men. But they went on a journey and came up on an Egyptian man who was sick and dying. Come to find out he was part of the caravan that destroyed their City but because he was so sick and dying the caravan left him to die. But David revived him with food and drink and the man in gratitude led them to the enemy and David and his men overtook them and captured all their belongings including their wives and children.
You know David wasn’t thinking, hey, maybe we’ll find one of our enemies sick and dying on the road who will lead us to those who did evil against us.
That’s how God is. We can’t fathom how God can cause things to work out but he does things in miraculous ways and in ways we would never have thought possible.
Next time you face a dilemma, take it to the Lord and trust him to work his way and in his timing. Expect the Unexpected!
