Learn To Be More Thankful And More Appreciative.
20 years after King Solomon built the Lord’s Temple and his house, King Solomon gave the King of Tyre 20 cities for all his help in building the two houses. But the King of Tyre was not happy with them and he thought the cities were “CABUL” meaning “as little” or “as nothing.” He was not appreciative of the cities nor thankful for them.
This chapter reminds me of how we need to be more appreciative for what others do for us. What they do may seem insignificant to you, but their heart may be overflowing with much love and appreciation for you. So in their eyes the gift is huge. So in that sense, it’s very disrespectful to be unappreciative.
When I ran cross country in high school as a senior, Rob, a 9th grader, looked up to me and loved hanging out with me. When I graduated from high school Rob made me a gift out of his own hands. I’m sure it took him a lot of time. It was ugly looking, but he put such love and appreciation into this gift. He was so proud of himself and of the gift. Though it was ugly looking, I knew he put all his heart and soul into it so I loved his gift more than any other. In fact, I kept it on my dresser for a very long long long time as a reminder of Rob and his friendship.
Next time someone does something for you, look at their hearts and not their actual act or gift they did or gave you. Learn to be more appreciative! Learn to be more thankful!!
