1st Kings Chapter 2
Get Yourself Established In The Lord. It’s Time To Clean House.
David’s death is drawing near so he speaks to his son Solomon who is the new king and instructs him to establish his kingdom by following God’s Word faithfully and by “cleaning house” and getting rid of all the evil that has slipped in over the years.
Solomon did just that by getting rid of all the toxic individuals within the kingdom.
After having three individuals executed for their evil, and one removed from office because of his unfaithfulness, the Scripture says, “The kingdom was established in the hands of Solomon.”
This means he cleaned house by getting rid of all the evil that had slipped in over the years.
Okay, it’s our turn to get ESTABLISHED in the Lord by faithfully following God’s Word and by cleaning our house. What is going on in our lives that is toxic? God help me in my thought life and help me to be the husband you have called me to be.
What is toxic in your life? Maybe it’s certain relationships you need to get rid of, or certain personality traits that are disobedient to God’s Word, or maybe an addiction, or maybe how you treat others. This isn’t a game! It’s time to get established in the Lord, so let’s each of us clean our houses starting today.
