1st Kings Chapter 17
Don’t Be Surprised In What God Can Do.
Two things from this chapter that should not surprise us:
1. God can make impossible situations possible. Twice, the widow in this chapter faced situations that seemed impossible to recover from. Once when she thought her and her son would die because of no more food. Another time when her boy was so sick that he was about to die. Both times God intervened through the prophet Elijah thus providing ongoing food and healing her son.
So what’s going on in your life that seems impossible? Don’t give up hope. Seek the Lord through prayer, reading his word, and fellowship with other believers. Then wait and see what God will do.
2. The widow, however, was not a 100% believer in the Lord. What influenced her to come to the point to truly believe in God was when she witnessed God working through the life of the prophet Elijah. So may Our Lives be a light for Christ in our dark world of sin. May we Let Jesus be seen in and through our lives. Believe it or not, it’s your life testimony that will help the unbelievers to believe in Jesus. Your life may be the only “Bible” they read/see. So let Christ reign in your heart then don’t be surprised how other lives are impacted for him.
