1st Corinthians Chapter 10
We Should Learn From Others Mistakes.
Paul reflects back to the days of Moses when the people of Israel ate and drank the spiritual food God provided that was accompanied them and that’s the rock of Christ. But the people of Israel complained and set their hearts on evil things. They worshiped idols and indulged into sexual relations with those to whom they were not married to. As a result, in one day, 23,000 people died. All this happened to them as an example and warning for us today so we don’t live as they did. Sadly, sexual immorality is continually lived out in our society amongst both Christians and non-Christians.
We live in a world with great temptations to follow the practices of this world. And God allows us to be tested to see if we will be faithful. Paul says we will all be tempted and tested in ways that are common to all humankind but because God is faithful he will not let us be tempted or tested beyond what we can bear. Instead, God will always provide a way out so that we can endure it. This should be encouraging to us. Because we all face very difficult times in our lives when we feel like we can’t handle it, we can’t endure it, there is no hope! But God assures us there’s always hope, and his Spirit will always give us the ability to endure and persevere. Be encouraged especially when you’re going through difficult times. Be faithful for God is faithful!
