1st Samuel Chapter 7

How Bad Do You Want It?

The Israelites were held in bondage by the Philistines for over 20 years. Then Samuel, their spiritual leader, said to do the following:

1. Turn to the Lord with all your heart.

2. Get rid of any false gods.

3. Then they prayed and fasted to the Lord for his intervention.

4. They gave offerings to the Lord.

Then God delivered them out of the hands of the Philistines.

What’s your dilemma? What has held you in bondage, maybe even for a long time? How bad do you want to be set free? Do you cry out to the Lord or do you try and get freedom on your own strength and your own knowledge?

Israelites seem pretty serious about seeking God.

1. How much effort do you put in giving God your whole heart?

2. How much effort do you put in prayer on your knees crying out to God or fasting a meal or two so you can pray to God for a miraculous intervention? (Don’t fast if your doctor says not to).

3. Or how much effort do you put in going through your house and getting rid of any and everything that God would not approve of?

Yes, you use your God-given brain to attack obstacles in life, that’s good, but if that’s your only approach then God is getting left out. Don’t leave him out of the equation. Do as the Israelites did when they were held in bondage. How bad do you want it?
