1 Kings Chapter 21
Rejoice When Sinners Turn To Christ.
I can’t explain just how evil King Ahab and his wife, Jezebel, were. In this chapter, they took an innocent man and had two liars testify against him so he would be killed. All this because they wanted his land. God spoke to King Ahab through the prophet Elijah saying he, his wife, and all the males of Israel would be killed as a punishment for their wickedness. For the first time in his life, King Ahab was broken and humbled before God for his sins. So God’s forgiveness came to him and God withheld his punishment while King Ahab was still alive.
God’s forgiveness is real and is available for anyone regardless of how evil they are. If a man raped our mother, wife, or one of our daughters, there would be so much hate towards this man and we would hope that he would go to hell. But if this man repented and came to the Lord in brokenness, God would forgive him. In all honesty, we all deserve death / hell. I’m a sinner in need of Christ! Please, may I never label my sin as if I am more deserving of God’s forgiveness than the person who’s more wicked and evil than I am. Luke 15:10 says that there’s a party in heaven even when just one person comes to Christ. May we also rejoice over all sinners who repent and come to Jesus in brokenness.
