1 John Chapter 5
What Does It Mean To Love God?
This chapter reminds me of the “dot to dot” game I used to do as a kid. Because one truth leads to another truth which leads to another truth which leads to another truth. For example:
What does it mean to love God? To love God is to love Jesus, is to love his children, is to be obedient to his Word, is to have faith in Christ for Salvation, is to have faith that gives us victory over sin and any struggles of life.
Who wouldn’t want this?
It goes on to say that to love Jesus is to have eternal life in heaven. To reject Jesus is to be condemned to an eternal hell. God wants us to know that we can know, in advance, that we have eternal life through a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Do you have a relationship with God through a relationship with Jesus?
How is that affecting your love for his Word, for others? How’s that affecting your faith walk? How is that affecting the struggles of life? Are you walking in victory believing in faith or are you walking in fear and worry because of your lack of faith?
God help me love you and your Son Jesus with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Strengthen my faith so that I believe that you have given me victory over any struggles in life.
