1 John Chapter 3
How Evident Is My Love For God And Others?
This chapter starts with, “No one who lives in Christ keeps on sinning.” Don’t get this wrong. We will always be sinners. We won’t be sinless until we are resurrected into heaven. What God desires from us is to no longer live in sin. There’s a difference between:
1. One who wants to live in Christ and in his righteousness but then messes up, but then shows remorse and ask for forgiveness. Vs.
2. The one who claims to be in Christ but has no desire to change. They love the worldly pleasures. They sin and keep on sinning, showing no remorse and sees no reason to change. Verse 6 and verse 9 refer to the individual who sins and sees no reason to change.
This is an easy place to fall into and we have to be careful. Verse 7 warns us to be careful we don’t let anyone lead us astray.
The bottom line of the rest of this chapter is love God and love others, not with just our words but with our actions. People will know if you are really in Christ if you’re able to make sacrifices in order to love and help others.
