How Conscious Are We Of Not Wanting To Sin?
It says in this chapter that the reason for the letter is so we are always conscious of not wanting to sin.
The writer asks how do we know if we’ve really come to know Christ?
1. If we keep his commandments. If anyone says I know Jesus but aren’t conscious of striving to obey Jesus, that person is called a liar and they don’t really know Jesus.
2. If we claim to know Jesus then we will live as Jesus did. That will be our hearts desire.
3. We claim to love God, but we hate our brother or sister, then we are still in sin and in need of Jesus.
4. We will love Jesus verses loving what this world has to offer us. If this world captures our love, then we are in darkness and in need of Christ.
How conscious are you of not wanting to walk in sin? What is God asking you to give up or turn away from so that you are living in obedience to his word?
