1 Corinthians Chapter 1
Don’t Be So Stupid!
Paul addresses this letter to the church in Corinth. And gives two qualities that followers of Christ should experience and take claim to:
1. Being sanctified or made holy. And then
2. Being holy on an ongoing basis.
These are just two common qualities that should naturally follow those who pursue a relationship with Christ.
Unfortunately, we the church train new believers into thinking there’s just a verbal proclamation for Christ without a changed life. For example, we see the mentality of Christians today thinking that living together before marriage is no big deal. Or having sex before marriage is no big deal. Plus you rarely hear a discussion amongst Christians about being holy.
In fact Paul goes on to say there are even those, who claim to be wise, proclaiming that there is no God and we can live however we want. They even look at Jesus believers as the foolish ones. When in fact, God’s wisdom is true wisdom and is all about the Gospel of Jesus for the Salvation of sinners. Those who claim to be wise are actually the foolish ones. And those who are considered the stupid ones are actually the ones who understand true wisdom. As a result they are the ones God chooses to proclaim the Gospel, true wisdom, that brings salvation.
And any who take hold of this wisdom for salvation, results in righteousness and holiness, being redeemed from hell into eternal life in heaven.
I would rather be stupid in the eyes of the world than be considered stupid in the eyes of God.
